A man in his late twenties was charged by the authorities with misdemeanor child abuse following an incident in which he allegedly left his toddler unattended in an unheated vehicle while he visited a local vape shop.

The man, 27-year-old Corey Eugene Angle Jr., was released on $3,000 bond following his arrest by the Salisbury Police Department.

An individual who spotted the unattended child reported the incident to police after allegedly spotting the 3-year-old child left unattended in the vehicle.

The Salisbury Post reported that the child was still in the car waiting for his father to return from the vape store when the police arrived at the scene.

At the time of the incident, temperatures outside were below freezing, reportedly in their twenties at the time of the incident, which took place around 6:30 p.m. on January 6,  2018.

The individual who called the authorities after spotting the young child alone in the vehicle reportedly claimed that the child was left behind in the vehicle for 15 to 17 minutes, WBTV reported.

The lesson here? Don’t leave your children unattended in your vehicle, especially not when it’s freezing outside. Nothing is that important, not even vaping.
