How To Quit Smoking By Vaping

Here are some tips and tricks to quitting smoking that are brought to you by a former smoker turned vaper that’s with the Vaporizer Wire team. These tips helped one of our own, perhaps they’ll help you as well. Here they are.

Tip 1: Keep Your Vaporizer Handy

This is quitting 101, especially for those who are content with just using their vape to suppress a relapse. If you forget to keep it with you and feel the urge come on strong, there’s a chance you’ll buy a pack of smokes instead. By making sure you always have your vape handy when you need it, your odds of quitting will, we imagine, improve.

Tip 2: Make Sure You Have Enough

Whatever it is you need, be it batteries, coils, atomizers, or juice, make sure you always have enough of it. There are things that you’ll need to replace, such as your e-juice supply at the least, which is why we say to make sure you always have enough on hand to get you by until you can get your hands on more. This way, you won’t be tempted to have a smoke instead when your supplies run out.

Tip 3: Find A Flavor That Works

We don’t all prefer the same foods and not surprisingly, we don’t all prefer the same e-juices. This is why we strongly suggest finding a flavor, or flavors, that work for you. If you want to keep your palette fresh, switch up your flavors regularly. Otherwise, you may find that you become too accustomed to a particular flavor and get bored with it.

Finding a flavor that you enjoy will, hopefully, keep you from reverting back to smoking. Once you find a flavor that works, you may find yourself disgusted by how cigarettes taste. That’s a good thing.

When it comes to quitting smoking, one of the best flavors we’ve found is peppermint, or any strong mint flavor for that matter. It seems to offer an adequate bite to it, which some may understand to be that hit in the back of their throat.

Tip 4: Keep Your Batteries Charged

When your batteries run out of juice, you can’t vape. Make sure they’re always charged and if necessary, keep fully charged backups on handy. In some cases, you may even want to invest in a portable battery pack that supports USB. This way, you can charge your vape batteries no matter where life takes you. On this note, you may also want to pickup a car battery charger, especially if you spend a lot of time on the road.

Tip 5: Get A Vape That’s Powerful Enough For You

The truth is that not all vaporizers are created equal, not by any means. Subsequently, not all vapes may work for you. Which is why we say to make sure to get one that’s powerful enough for you. If the vapor production is too weak, you may have more trouble making the transition from smoker to former smoker, current vaper.

Fortunately, there are plenty vaporizer reviews on YouTube, Reddit, forums, and even some websites and individuals like Vaporizer Shark and The Vape Critic that are dedicated to reviewing vaporizers. Such resources, which can be found free online, can prove useful for those searching for an appropriate vaporizer.

Tip 6: Stay Away From Those Who Smoke

We’re not saying you should lock yourself in your house until you’ve quit, but there’s a good chance that it’ll help to stay away from those who smoke. Seeing them smoke or knowing that you could ask them for one — “hey man, could I bum a smoke? — provide enough of a reason to steer clear of such people until you’ve gained solid ground to stand on and can comfortably assure yourself that you won’t smoke given the opportunity.

If this isn’t possible, do your best to limit the time you spend around them. Ultimately, it’s for your own good. And when you do see them, let them know that you’re not smoking and that you’d prefer that they didn’t smoke around it, if it’s not too much of a burden.

Also, don’t forget to offer them some free advice of your own: quit smoking now, vaping is healthier.

Tip 7: When You Feel The Urge To Smoke, Vape Instead

This might seem a little too obvious to some of you. In fact, it probably does. But all the same, the best advice we can offer is to reach for your e-cig or similar vapor dispensing device whenever the urge to smoke becomes too much to bare. There are times when you may think of smoking instead. Don’t do it. Pickup the vape and do your lungs, throat, and mouth a favor by vaping instead.

Tip 8: Lower Your Nicotine Intake As You Go

If your goal in stopping smoking by vaping is ultimately to give up both and live a smoke and vapor free lifestyle, our advice is to slowly reduce your reliance on nicotine to get you through the day. In order to do so, watch and regulate your nicotine intake. This doesn’t mean that you’ll have to give up on puffing your e-cig so much as it means that you should pay attention to the amount of nicotine your juices are infused with and slowly reduce this number by buying ever-softer juices that contain less and less nicotine. Do this until you’re no longer reliant on nicotine and then slowly work on taking less and less puffs of your e-cig until you comfortably say that you’ve given up entirely.

In other words, attack your nicotine dependency first and then go for the kill shot by addressing your oral fixation.

Tip 9: Keep All Smoking Related Devices Out Of Sight

There’s definitely some truth to the saying, “out of sight, out of mind.” As it pertains to quitting smoking, you’ll want to do your best to keep smoking supplies out of reach and out of sight. This way, you won’t think about them as much as you won’t be constantly exposed to them. Once you’re ready to, you may even want to get rid of your ashtrays, unless you intend on keeping them for company. At the least, put your cigarettes and similar in a drawer or some place where you won’t see them as you pass by.
