There’s a question being asked by some vapers and non-vapers alike: is 50 mg salt nicotine a lot? The short answer to this question is yes, but it may not be as much as you might think. We’ll explain.
Nicotine Salt Is Unlike Freebase Nicotine
The first thing you need to understand is that nicotine salt is not the same as freebase nicotine. E-liquids first came onto the market using freebase and it wasn’t until later that nicotine salts caught on.
In their original form, nic salts aren’t all that great when it comes to vaping. This is why they’ve been engineered to be smoother when vaped. By making them smoother, it has become possible to create e-liquids using them that hold high concentrations of nicotine, such as 50 mg/ml.
50 MG Is A Lot
Nic salt with 50 milligrams per milliliter is a high concentration. There’s no question about that. But if it was freebase, it’d probably be way too harsh to vape. Using nic salts, it’s not actually all that harsh and many vapers use it with their vaping devices.
Nic Salts Are Popular For Good Reason
Former smokers who have been smoking a pack of cigarettes or more each day are obviously going to need more nicotine in their e-liquid than those who smoke much less. This is where nicotine salts come in, allowing for high concentrations of nicotine to be infused into e-liquid. Not only can higher concentrations be used, but modern nic salts also absorb faster into the bloodstream of those who vape them. This means nic fixes come faster, which may help some smokers switch to vaping and may help some former smokers continue vaping without relapsing back to cigarettes.
Scientists have engineered nicotine salts used in e-liquids to:
- Taste better
- Absorb faster
- Vape smoother
