Volcano Vaporizer Review

Vaper Empire E-Liquids

The Volcano Vaporizer by Storz & Bickel is easily one of the most popular vaporizers in the world and the reason is simple: it’s one of the best. But is it better than its competitors? To find out, continue reading this review as I walk you through the pros and cons of the world renown Volcano.

Digital Volcano Vaporizer
This is the Volcano Digit, the digital version of Storz & Bickel’s Volcano Vaporizer and the subject of this review.

For reference, this is a review of the Digit, which is the digital version of the Volcano, sometimes referred to as the Digital Volcano Vaporizer.

The Balloon

When you first see a Volcano, you might wonder: “What even is that?” Well, it’s a desktop vaporizer that utilizes a balloon delivery system to deliver vapor to its user. What this means is that it literally fills up a balloon with vapor, capturing it until its ready to be used. And by used, I do mean inhaled.

This might seem like a gimmick to some, this whole balloon delivery system, but I assure you: it is absolutely not a gimmick. In fact, it’s quite likely the best vapor delivery system in existence right now. And the reason for this is simple: it works great and it’s incredibly convenient.

Imagine this: you’re sitting back, relaxing, casually taking puffs off the bag. When you don’t want it, you set it down. When you do want it, you pick it up, press it against your mouth, the valve that keeps the vapor sealed in the bag automatically opens, and out flows the vapor into your lungs and mouth. This is how easy and convenient it is to vape with a Volcano.

The Valve

The valve in use with the Volcano is worth taking the time to discuss. The reason why I say this is because it’s by far the best valve system in use with a balloon vaporizer that I’ve come across, and I’ve tried a few, including the Extreme Q, viVape 2, and VapirRise. What all of these vapes seem to lack, that the Volcano doesn’t, is an idiot-proof valve system. But with the Volcano, that’s exactly what you have.

There’s no fiddling with the valve, no opening and closing it, or so much as a thought about it. The reason for this is that when you press the mouthpiece against your mouth, the pressure of it pressing against your lips automatically opens the valve. And when the pressure is gone, when you remove it from your mouth, it quickly snaps shut. Or in other words, it literally opens and closes for you, without thought and without effort. You just pull it up to your mouth, take a puff, and then set it aside if you’re done. So simple anyone can do it and that’s just one of the reasons why I love this vape. Here’s another reason: the quality of vapor.

Excellent Vapor

This is one area where the Volcano Vaporizer really excels: vapor quality. With both Volcano vapes, the Digit, which is the subject of this review, and the Classic, which is essentially the same but with a slightly lower-tech temperature control system, the vapor is superb. The flavor is great, the potency on point, and the volume is definitely there if you want it to be. In fact, if you take a bag, fill it, and then “punch” it into your mouth, you’ll get one serious lungful of dense and potent vapor.

And thanks to its variable temperature control, which allows you to adjust the temperature across a wide range, selecting your preferred vaping temperature is a breeze. By controlling the temperature, you actually have a lot of control over the vaporization process and as a result, a lot of control over the vapor output. If you turn it down, it does an excellent job of retaining the blend’s flavor profile. And if you crank it up, it pushes out some seriously potent vapor. The choice is yours.

Draw Resistance

Ever hit a vape and feel like you’re trying to suck a pineapple through a straw? Well, if you have, you know why draw resistance is an important variable to take into consideration when deciding which vape to use. And this is yet another area where the Volcano really shines.

Thanks to its balloon delivery system’s design, there’s virtually no draw resistance whatsoever when using the Volcano. And when I say this, don’t take this as an exaggeration because I mean this quite literally: it has virtually no draw resistance. The vapor is truly free-flowing with this one.

Digital Control

Adjusting the temperature and settings is a breeze with the Digit thanks to its intuitive controls with its large buttons and display size to match. If you can press a button, you can adjust the Volcano’s settings. This is about as easy as it gets. And on top of how easy it is to use, it’s also extremely accurate as far as the temperature control is concerned. According to its manufacturer, it’s accuracy is within plus or minus 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit.

Slow Heating

The Volcano isn’t the quickest vape to heat up, that much is for sure. It takes anywhere from three to five minutes to reach vaping temperatures, but if you ask me, it’s well worth the wait.

Outside of this slow heat up time, my only real complaint with it is that it’s a bit noisy. The reason for this is its internal fan, which is used to move air and vapor, allowing it to fill balloons with vapor. But I’m not really complaining about a little noise because that’s all it really is: a little noise. Never has it bothered me and I imagine that for most of you, you won’t even really notice it unless someone, like me, brings it to your attention. And even then, with a vape that works this well, who really cares if it makes a little noise? Not this vaper, that’s for sure.

Vape Everything

With my complaints, which are clearly quite limited, out of the way, it’s time to tell you about what this vape can do and that’s everything. When I say everything, what I mean is that the Volcano vapes are capable of vaporizing virtually all types of blends. Liquid, wax, dry herb, and just about everything else you put in it is vaporized to literal perfection. It has no qualms with concentrates and it certainly has no issues vaping dry herbs. In fact, it’s designed for both, which is why it comes with a Liquid Pad intended for concentrate use.

But the Liquid Pads aren’t just for concentrates, they’re also used to take up some of the extra space in the Volcano’s relatively large loading chamber, which is capable of holding a substantial amount of blend at a time. This is nice for those who just like to pack little bowls, or “snappers” as some refer to them. You simply load a pinch of herb into it, drop the pad in to take up the extra space, and vape away as you normally would without any loss or degradation in quality or efficiency.

Final Consensus

After testing just about every high-end desktop vape on the market, I can comfortably say the Volcano Digit is quite literally the best desktop vaporizer around. Its vapor quality is virtually unrivaled, it’s incredibly easy to use, and it works just as well in solo sessions as it does with friends. In fact, you can actually fill up multiple bags at a time and pass them around to keep a smile on everyone’s face.

For those who can afford it, the Volcano is the best there is. You can click here to buy it online from an authorized retailer.
