Is Vaping While Driving Illegal?

While the news headlines we just mentioned might give the impression that it’s illegal to vape and drive, the reality is that it isn’t, at least not in the United States and the United Kingdom. That’s not to say that you can’t get in trouble for vaping while driving, only that it’s not specifically prohibited by any laws on the books in either the U.S. or U.K., but there are laws against distracted driving, which is why you could get in legal trouble for vaping while driving.

If a law enforcement officer deems you to be a distracted driver as a result of your vape use, you could find yourself in trouble with the long arm of the law. This is why it has been suggested that vapers use their vapes responsibly while driving. This means, if you’re going to blow huge clouds, open a window. And if you’re going to pay more attention to your vape than you are the road, you may want to rethink this whole notion of vaping while driving because it might not be a good fit for you.

The Short Answer

It’s not illegal to vape while you drive, but if it causes you to be distracted while driving, there’s a chance that you could find yourself in legal trouble.
