Juul vaporizers might be e-cigs, but to many – they sure don’t look it. The reason for this, according to their manufacturer, Juul Labs, is to avoid reminding former smokers of the cigarettes they’ve opted to leave behind.
In a tweet on Twitter, the company stated that their co-founders designed the Juul device “to be as easy to use as a cigarette but not to look like one.” They then added that they “know adult smokers who want to switch do not want to be reminded of combustible cigarettes.” Which is why the company opted for the Juul’s rectangular design, which looks a bit more like a USB stick than a conventional cigarette.
“We know adult smokers who want to switch do not want to be reminded of combustible cigarettes. Juul’s rectangular shape is a prime example of our intention to develop something different than a cigarette to help current adult smokers switch.”
The company tagged the tweet with the hashtag “#JUULFACTS”.
