Anchorage, Alaska now has a 55% wholesale tax on vaping products in place. The ordinance went into effect on January 1, 2021.
The vape tax was unanimously passed by all ten members of the Assembly, which includes both Democrats and Republicans.
Herbal vaping products are exempt from the tax.
To clarify, the tax has been implemented across the Municipality of Anchorage, which is a unified city-borough that includes the city of Anchorage.
The state of Alaska does not currently have a statewide tax on vaping products.
