There’s a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Pax Labs vaporizer company and his name is Bharat Vasan.

Pax Labs, the herbal vaporizer manufacturer behind the Pax brand of portable vaporizers, has blazed through CEOs in recent years. Originally, the company had co-founder James Monsees as the helm in the CEO position. Then, with a quick shuffle, the company installed Tyler Goldman as CEO while shifting Monsees into the Chief Product Officer (CPO) position. Goldman held the position for some time, a position which he also briefly held at Juul Labs, which is in a sense the electronic cigarette manufacturing arm of the original company Monsees and co-founder Adam Bowen launched, the Ploom company.

Last we reported, both Monsees and Bowen had left their executive roles at Pax Labs and taken up new executive positions at Juul Labs, where the two are also members of the board.

In December of last year, Juul Labs hired Kevin Burns–formerly the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Chobani yogurt company–after Goldman left to “pursue new entrepreneurial opportunities.” Burns then held the position of CEO at both Pax and Juul up until recently when Pax hired their new CEO, Bharat Vasan.

Vasan, now the CEO of Pax Labs, co-founded fitness-based wearable company Basis, which was acquired by Intel in 2014 for $100 million.

Having only been in the position of CEO for a short period of time, Vasan already plans to hire between 50 and 100 new employees over the next 12 months – employees which will be spread across the company’s various departments.

Vasan was quoted by TechCrunch as having said that his “biggest challenge is to build a culture where the values, and being mission driven keeps people excited to come to work.”

“Hardware is a very complex ecosystem. We have growth and a great business and we’re scaling quickly, but my biggest challenge is to build a culture where the values, and being mission driven keeps people excited to come to work.”

In other news, Juul Labs has issued an official statement addressing rumors that their electronic cigarettes cause cancer.
