New marijuana test strips made by S2 Detection Technologies, a Colorado-based manufacturer of explosive and narcotic test devices, allow for law enforcement and the like to quickly test what’s inside a vape and determine whether or not it’s marijuana based.

For schools across the United States where vapes have been confiscated from students, the new test strips may provide faculties with a new resource in their fight against student vape use. Now, with the new test strips on hand, school administrations will have the ability to quickly determine whether a vape contains marijuana or something else.

While vaporizers have a number of uses, such as mineral diffusion and aromatherapy, many modern vaporizers are designed for use with either nicotine, marijuana, or both.

Miles Callahan, managing director at S2 Detection Technologies, was quoted by CBS Denver as having said that the technology behind S2’s new cannabis test strips is “ground breaking.”

“This is ground breaking technology.”

Beyond marijuana test strips, CBS reports that there are now strips designed to test for a range of narcotics, including heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, and amphetamines.
