Vaporizing is now more popular with teenagers than cigarettes, according to a national survey sponsored by the U.S. federal government and conducted by the University of Michigan.
According to the survey’s reported findings, only 9.7 percent of the teens surveyed had previously smoked cigarettes, whereas 16.6 percent had previously used a vaporizer.
Now if you’re wondering what these teens were vaping, you’re likely not alone. According to the data, those surveyed overwhelmingly indicated that they were vaping “just flavoring,” whereas a much smaller percentage indicated that they were vaping nicotine.
Dr. Wilson Compton, the deputy director of the federal institute that sponsored the study, was quoted by the New York Times as having said that while the institute is “impressed by the improvement” of the teenagers as far as their overall abuse of substances is concerned, we noted that the potential health concerns with vaping remain unclear.
