Can E-Juice Go Stale?

Vaper Empire E-Liquids

If you’re wondering whether or not e-juice can go stale, the answer is yes. Here’s what you can do to slow down the process.

Store Your E-Juice Properly

That’s right folks, you’re going to want to store your e-liquids properly in order to get the most out of them. As the ingredients degrade with time, storing them in a tinted container, preferably glass, in the freezer or refrigerator will help prolong their life.

Note: Those who have children may want to consider locking their e-liquids up to ensure that they’re safely out of reach.

In essence, you want to keep your vape juices in a cool, dark place. If you can pull this off, they’re almost certain to last longer.

The Expiration Debate

E-juices, by some accounts expire when their ingredients expire and as PG, VG, and nicotine all have shelf lives of two years, some assume by this account that vape juices, which generally include at least two of the aforementioned, expire after about two years. However, there’s no widely accepted conclusion on this matter. Subsequently, some simply use their own senses to determine whether or not a juice has actually expired.

Checking If Your Juice Has Expired

For example, some might use a quick sniff test to determine if a juice has expired or whether it’s still good to vape. And yet another test some administer is a simple visual inspection in which they examine the juice to determine whether or not the solution is still a nice mix or if the ingredients have separated, the latter being an indicator of expiration by some accounts.

Is It Really Does Expire, Does It Even Expire?

Juul Labs, makers of Juul e-cigs, have made the claim on their website that their e-juices don’t have an expiration date. Whether or not that it’s intended to insinuate or imply that their e-juice doesn’t expire remains unclear, but what is clear is that they haven’t set a specific expiration date for their e-juice products. But for the most part, the general consensus among vapers appears to be that vape juices do in fact expire, or at the least- become that much less appealing as their flavor diminishes over time.

By some accounts, vape juice eventually becomes stale, which is when it’s time to, if not sooner, toss it and start anew with a fresh bottle.

Have you ever tasted stale vape juice and if so- what did you think?
