Instagram User Vapes Tide Pod Liquid Despite Warnings

Vaper Empire E-Liquids

Despite warnings from the company who manufactures the product as well as health experts who have weighed in on the matter, one Instagram user took it upon himself to attempt to step the Tide Pod Challenge up a notch by vaping the liquid contained within one of the pods.

The Instagram account that publicized the video of the man vaping the Tide Pod liquid is known as Vape Tricks (@vapetricks). The account has over 600,000 followers and more than 2,500 posts.

While we won’t share the video, which appears to have been deleted on Instagram where it was shared, we will share a video from Tide in which the company addresses human consumption of their cleaning product, Tide Pods, which are intended for doing laundry, not eating or vaping.

At the time of reporting, this video in which Tide clearly conveys what users should do with their Pods (use them to do laundry) had over 62,000 retweets and over 127,000 likes.

Back to vaping Tide Pods, the experiment did not end favorably for the user who attempted it. As NME noted in a report, the attempt didn’t end “so well.” The user who attempted it later shared a video in which he warned those might attempt to copy him, telling them not to do it.

We couldn’t agree more.

Our stance on the matter? Don’t vape Tide Pods. End of story.

At this point, even the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has weighed in on the matter of consuming Tide Pods as they issued a stern warning in which they said:

“A meme should not become a family tragedy. Don’t eat poison.”

What are your thoughts on the Tide challenge? Is it stupid, reckless, ill-conceived or all of the above? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
