Vaping And Oil Drilling Lumped Together On Florida Ballot

Later this year, voters in the state of Florida will have the opportunity to vote on a couple of issues that have been lumped together in one amendment: offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and vaping in public spaces.

That’s right, these two areas of concern have been lumped together into one amendment instead of two separate ones, causing some to voice their concerns with the way the two issues have been lumped together. One such individual, Evan Dowling, was quoted by NBC2 as having said that he tends “to be a little skeptical” whenever “issues are lumped together and you can’t vote separately.” Dowling added that he would prefer “to see them [voted on as] separate issues.”

“Anytime issues are lumped together and you can’t vote separately, I tend to be a little skeptical about that. I’d like to see them [voted on as] separate issues.”

Explaining the decision to lump the two key issues together on the upcoming November ballot, the Constitutional Revision Commission said that the proposed amendment is about clean water and clean air. Regardless, NBC2 reports that there are many voters who want the two issues kept separate on the upcoming ballot.

What do you think, should the two issues, vaping in public spaces and offshore drilling, be lumped together or should Florida voters have the option to vote on each issue individually?
