According to the survey data, no significant number of daily e-cigarette users was recorded in 2015, local newspaper The Standard reported. But, just two years later in 2017, a total of 5,700 daily e-cig users were recorded, marking a dramatic shift indicative of vaping’s increasing popularity in the autonomous territory that is Hong Kong.

In the United Kingdom, e-cigarette use has plateaued over the last few years as the number of vapers in the U.K. has reached just under 3 million users.

According to the findings of Public Health England’s independently conducted e-cigarette review, over 90% of the adults in the U.K. incorrectly associate nicotine with the majority of the health concerns associated with smoking. In addition, the study also found that there are currently thousands of cigarette smokers in the country that falsely believe vaping and smoking to carry the same health risks. Notably, the review found vaping to be around 95% less harmful than smoking.
