What Is 510 Thread?

Vaper Empire E-Liquids

Not sure what 510 thread is and how it pertains to vaping? You’re in luck because that’s exactly what this vaping guide is all about.

510 Thread Definition

510 thread is the type of threading used on vape components such as atomizers and batteries. If a battery is 510 threaded and an atomizer is 510 threaded, there’s a good chance that they are compatible with one another from a mechanical perspective. By which we mean that the two components can be connected to one another. Whether or not they in fact work in conjunction with one another is another question entirely.

510 thread, by definition, means that there are 10 threads at 0.5 millimeters per thread. The term was, to our knowledge, first used by the Joyetech e-cig company to describe the type of connection that they were using to connect their vape batteries to their juice tanks.

Benefits To Universal Threading

As a result of 510 threading’s widespread use in the vape industry, it is becoming easier for vapers to mix and match their favorite components from varying manufacturers. Not only does this allow for more versatility, it also allows manufacturers of vape accessories to design their products to be compatible with a large number of vape products without the need to release multiple versions accommodating different designs.

Is Compatibility Guaranteed?

Essentially, with 510 threading, pieces screw into one another – thus establishing a physical and electrical connection between two components. This is a simple way of ensuring that all vape products are compatible with one another, but it’s unfortunately not quite that simple and by no means guarantees that two products, even though 510 threaded, will be compatible. However, it almost certainly means that they can be screwed into one another to establish a connection.

Unfortunately, while many vape mods and vape pens utilize 510 threading, not all vaporizers do. Still, as it stands, the 510 thread’s popularity is immense, which is why some consider it the standard threading for vapes – or at the least, for vape mods and pens.

Alternatives To 510 Threading

While there are numerous alternatives to 510 threading as it applies to vape devices, one in particular that’s quite popular is the eGo thread. These two types of vape threading, 510 and eGo, are so popular the some vape products actually have both types of threading integrated into their designs.
