Vaping has been making headlines in recent days and often the reason is such: vape use in schools across the U.S. is rising and officials, parents, and the like are concerned.

On the heels of such reports, CNN has issued a report in which it claims that vaping is “now an epidemic among US high schoolers” — this is the report’s title, which was published on the CNN website on April 6, 2018.

The report cites a U.S. Surgeon General report from 2016 indicating that officials witnessed a 900% increase in high school students using e-cigarettes from 2011 to 2015 as well as the 2016 National Youth Tobacco Survey, which found that 1.7 million high school students reported to have used e-cigs within the last 30 days from the point at which they were surveyed.
