A man in Florida has died as a result of an exploding vape pen.

The Medical Examiner in Pinellas County, Florida reportedly confirmed that it was indeed the explosion of a vape pen that was to blame for 38-year-old Tallmadge Wakeman D’Elia’s death.

D’Elia, who went by the nickname “Wake,” was discovered by firefighters in the upstairs bedroom of the home where he died in a fire caused by an exploding vape pen. Fourty-five percent of his body was reportedly covered in burns at the time of his discovery.

According to the Medical Examiner, the cause of death was “accidental.”

A full report is expected to be released by the Medical Examiner later today, KFDI reported.

According to data from U.S. government agencies, such incidences of exploding vape pens are on the rise in the United States.
