Juul Pods Sold In The UK Contain Less Nicotine Than Their US Counterparts

Vaper Empire E-Liquids

Juulpods, the liquid nicotine filled vape cartridges that the Juul vapor company sells for their Juul device kits, are now sold in the United Kingdom, but there’s a less than subtle difference in the amount of nicotine that they contain when compared to the pods sold in the United States.

Just How Much Less?

In the U.S., Juulpods contain 5% nicotine by weight. In the U.K., they contain 1.7% nicotine. Which means: the Juulpods sold in the U.S. are roughly three times as potent as the pods sold in the U.K.

For reference, Juul recently announced that it will begin selling pods in the U.S. that contain 3% nicotine strength, giving consumers a second option to the 5% pods that have been the standard for some time now.

The Difference Between U.S. & U.K. Juulpods

As for why exactly the Juulpods in the U.K. differ so dramatically in nicotine strength than their U.S. counterparts, the reason, simply put, is TPD compliance.

The European Union Tobacco Products Directive regulates the amount of nicotine that e-juice manufacturers can inject into their products. Subsequently, Juul’s hands are tied to an extent as far as the nicotine strength of their pods are concerned.

In light of this, the mint flavored pods sold in the U.K. are currently 1.7% nicotine strength, whereas the ones sold in the U.S. are 5% strength. Although, there is another difference between the two: the mints sold in the U.K. are actually “Glacier Mint” pods and the ones sold in the U.S. are technically “Cool Mint.”
