Your Partially Used Juul Pods Might Leak While You Fly And Here’s Why

Vaper Empire E-Liquids

Once a Juul pod has been opened, there’s a chance it will leak during flight as a result of the sudden change in altitude. There’s also a chance, although less, that an unopened pod will leak as well.

This is why Juul Labs, the company that manufactures Juulpods, recommends disposing of used pods before getting on a plane, as there’s a chance they could leak mid-flight.

As for unopened ones, the chance you’ll experience some leakage is less than what you might expect from an opened one– to the point that Juul Labs does not have any formal recommendation regarding their disposal prior to air travel.

Now if your pod does leak while you’re flying, Juul Labs recommends that you avoid direct contact with the e-liquid and that you wipe the pod off using a tissue or some other clean cloth before you reattach it to any Juul device. As for your hands, they suggest you wash them with soap and water.

Why Juul Pods Sometimes Leak During Flights

The reason why Juulpods leak, like any liquid stored in a container that leaks on a plane as a result of pressure change, is because the air trapped in the pod along with the e-liquid expands, forcing the e-liquid out of the pod. But with unopened pods, the pods remain sealed, which helps prevent the e-liquid contained within them from escaping.

Juul Labs recommends referencing the TSA’s list of prohibited items prior to traveling via airplane. In addition, you may want to take a look at the individual restrictions imposed by any airlines that you might be traveling with. And you will, of course, want to make sure that it’s legal to travel with such a device in any places you might be stopping in, even if it’s just a connecting flight, because vaping is illegal in some areas, such as the entire country of Thailand.

In other news, an elderly Israel couple was arrested and fined in Thailand for traveling through the country with an electronic cigarette.
