Yorkshire Cancer Research Urges Smokers To Use E-Cigarettes To Quit Smoking

Yorkshire Cancer Research, the largest independent regional cancer charity in England, is urging smokers to give up cigarettes with the help of electronic cigarettes.

The charity is also calling on healthcare professionals in the Yorkshire region to support smokers who select vaping as a tool through which to quit smoking.

Explaining the logic behind their endorsement of e-cigs as smoking cessations (quit tools), the charity cited the following points:

  • Vaping’s relative safety in comparison to smoking. Notably, current evidence shows vaping to be at least 95% safer than smoking conventional cigarettes.
  • Second-hand e-cigarette vapor’s lack of harm to bystanders.
  • Smokers who use e-cigs are more likely to successfully quit smoking with the help of local stop smoking services.

As for the reason why smokers should give up their cigarettes in favor of e-cigs, the charity noted that tobacco smoking is currently the leading cause of premature death in not only Yorkshire, but also the world.

Smoking tobacco is known to be responsible for 16 different types of cancer.

By Yorkshire Cancer Research’s account, the best thing cigarette smokers can do for their health “is to completely quit” smoking.

“The best thing a smoker can do for their health is to completely quit for good.”

The charity published a video explaining more about their recommendation to smokers, which can be seen below.
