A Juul device is an electronic vaporizer that’s designed to work with Juulpods, which are known as “pods” for short. Juulpods are a type vape cartridge specific to the Juul brand vaporizer that come prefilled with a liquid nicotine formulation created by Juul Labs, the California-based vape company behind the Juul line of vaping products.
Juul Labs describes their Juul device as “an easy to use vaporizer” that’s designed to provide “a genuine alternative to smoking” for adult smokers. In other words, it’s an e-cig, which is short for electronic cigarette. But unlike heat-not-burn (HNB) products that heat tobacco, Juuls are designed to heat liquid nicotine blends to the point at which vaporization occurs and a vapor or aerosol is released.
The point of a Juul, in essence, is to provide a less harmful means of nicotine delivery. And when we say less harmful, we mean in comparison to smoking cigarettes.
While the question of whether or not they’re truly safer than cigarettes remains hotly debated, there is now significant evidence to suggest that vaping is indeed less harmful than smoking.
So if the Juul device is a portable vaporizer designed to vaporize liquid nicotine filled “pods,” what’s in the pods?
What Is In A Juul Pod?
Juulpods contain nicotine salts at 5% strength as well as glycerol, propylene glycol, benzoic acid, extracts, flavor, and natural oils. And based on Juul’s own published material regarding Juulpods, a single pod contains 200 puffs of vapor and its nicotine content is approximately equivalent to one whole pack of conventional cigarettes. This translates to 200 puffs per pod, which is roughly the equivalent of smoking an entire pack of cigarettes as far as nicotine delivery is concerned.
Pods, which come in various flavors, are sold four pods to a pack and a single pack costs $15.99 at this time. The e-juice contained within them is not sold in bulk, at least not at this time.
